Overweight people are at significant risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, gallbladder disease, sleep apnea and respiratory problems and hypertension compared to a normal person. According to a recent study of overweight people in the United States, it is found that over 50% of U.S. citizens are overweight. There could be many reasons for being overweight, but some of the main reasons are listed below-

- Overeating: Overeating is primary and the main reason for being overweight. Most people simply eat too much to be alone, depressed or bored. Overweight people always want more food and their taste buds are always tempted to feed more and more.

- Poor eating habits: excessive use of fatty foods and soft drinks often lead to weight gain. Some foods high in calories which can cause excessive weight are cheeseburgers, pizza, fries, French etc. are high in calories and fat so it is best to avoid them, or should be used less.

- Genetics: Some people are genetically overweight if one or both parents are carriers of defective genes. Low metabolic rate or the presence of fat in and around the abdomen is due to gene, inherited from your parents.

- The use of anti-depressants: Some drugs like anti-depressants, beta-blockers or birth control pills can contribute to weight gain.

- Lack of physical activity: Most overweight people have a history of deskbound. Regular exercise can help reduce weight.

- Sleep deprivation: In a study in the United States, it is found that if people are getting less than eight hours of sleep tend to gain more weight than those who sleep more normally. Sleep deprivation can cause over secretion of hormones to eat more.

How to reduce your weight?

Reducing the weight is not as difficult as some say. It is a popular misconception that "programs of weight reduction is necessary to lose weight. You can reduce your weight without a weight reduction of costly programs quick solution. Reasons for being overweight may be numerous, but the most important aspect of weight loss is your morale, if you have the determination and will power, you can get rid of your obesity. Change your eating habits, eating less fatty foods, drink lots of water, exercise regularly, and you feel that you are more healthy, attractive and happy, but not overweight.
