What is the cause of vaginal bleeding after a woman has had a hysterectomy? My friend is 73 years old and had a hysterectomy a few years ago and has recently had vaginal bleeding.
I answered your other question. This is just to see if it also helps other players but I do not recommend it to return to her doctor.
Did she have a total hysterectomy removal of the uterus and cervix? You can have a total hysterectomy and keep both ovaries. Removal of the ovaries are called oophorectomy oophorectomy. The neck is the size of a coat button and if left it can continue to bleed. If she kept her neck and then the type of surgery is classified as partial, supracervical or subtotal hysterectomy. The term hysterectomy refers to removal of the uterus when the cervix is taken, it is the whole uterus including the cervix or neck of the uterus.
There is a chance that some could be in the linning of the uterus and cervix still bleed monthly or even cause stains. People who have a cervix supracervical (kept) hysterectomy for endometriosis or adenomyosis are at greater risk for this happening. Some doctors cauterize the neck of the uterus to prevent bleeding after a hysterectomy. Some women have had to go inside and get the pass off. I hope she get follwing up Pap smears because vaginal cancer can still occur even after everything is removed. It could also have scars that have formed behind the bleeding, if she has no cervix. I had something called granulation tissue, which lasted about 17 weeks and the doctor just used a bit of nitrate in the office has stopped the bleeding. Like years ago because she had the hysterectomy I consider to be bleeding from the cervix if it is still there, even the scar tissue so rare now, or another problem. Cancer is on my mind and the only way she can know for sure is to see his doctor. Even if there is anything, she should consult her doctor about this because it should not have bleeding. It can also check www.hystersisters.com additional information they have tons of message boards before and after hysterectomy, including bulletin boards hormone. Good luck.
Hello,
Take your friend to her OBGYN (Mr. Gynecology) if it has one. If not she should see his family DR. Vaginal bleeding can be a sign of ovarian cancer, even if she had her ovaries. My aunt had the same problem. This is so serious that the sooner she goes the better.
