Breastfeeding mothers of twins ... When did you start feeding in tandem? I went to a breastfeeding class and the instructor says you can not breastfeed until the tandem infants are a few months. She also said that you had to put his hands under the baby.
But I always heard if you get a nursing pillow for twins and use rolled blankets or towels you can use it under the baby (the towel is rolled to seat the baby in place), keep your hands over the babies to help and feed in tandem immediately?
Am I wrong?
I started feeding twin almost immediately, but know that it can be very hard work. We had a terrible time with attachment, but once we got there (and it took nearly four months!), It is plain sailing. The only advice I can give you above all else is to persist! My daughters are now 8MB and we're still going, although I now feed one after another as they became a little difficult to manage because they got bigger.
I would definitely recommend making a pillow feeding twins. After trying about 6 different pillows when I was in the hospital, I bought it and swore by Ezy pillow-2-nurse who has been fantastic and probably my biggest purchase (the other was an electric pump). I took with me when I visited friends or family in the early days!
I know many mothers who breastfed tandem twins from birth or shortly thereafter. I know that first it will be difficult because you work on the bolt. The football hold is ideal for this and using a Boppy
It does not. I started in tandem feed almost as soon as we returned from the hospital. We use the football hold with pillows EZ-2-nurse. I've never used pillows to keep up the nursing pillow puts them in the correct position. Do not listen to the instructor. There is so much fun to nurse both at the same time (I'm actually nursing both mine as I type;)).
I started in tandem feeding as soon as I got home from the hospital. I had one of these at my baby shower and I loved it. It was great for the nursing care for the girls once they were older I fed one at a time, but I still use it today and I love it. http://www.mybrestfriend.com / twins.php
