What form of astigmatism requires a correction? I recently had cataract surgery and the AcrySof Toric implanted in one eye. At first sight, my vision was as follows:
SPH: 1.25
CYL: Nil
AXIS: Nil
Just two days ago, my follow-up revealed the following
SPH: +1.00
CYL: -0.50
AXIS 160
Q: During this period, I developed about 0.50 D of astigmatism. What are the chances of my astig progresses until I need astigmatic correction in the future?
Q: I hear from my surgeon that some form of astigmatism can be beneficial to my overall vision. What is considered "beneficial astigmatism?
Q: It is estimated that the low level of astigmatism does not warrant correction. What range is considered "soft"? Is my current level of astigmatism requiring vision correction?
Q: My concern is that my IOL is a lens ring, the first tests showed that 100% correct my astigmatism. The sudden appearance of -0.50 D of astig, may mean the IOL is rotated inside the eye, which excludes any correction by IOL? What is the probability that the case?
In order, more or less ...
Note that your Rx has improved overall during this period:
mean sphere of 1.25 + 0.75. You could very well be still in the healing period. It looks like an excellent result.
The astigmatism component can increase or disappear in the coming months. I do not expect to change massively. Anyway, it can easily go 0.25 of a visit just by observation and the variation of the operator.
astigmatism beneficial? Sounds lke more comforting flannel, or BS
Some people who suffer from astigmatism sensitive they can use to find the best viewing on a small range of distances. Most would have preferred better ision V.
Not as bad, a man with wooden legs can save on socks, but it is in the same category.
Regarding "What is the level ..." It's personal. And nothing unique astigmatism ... Is 1.00 sphere need to correct?
It depends on what you do, how much of blurring or tired you see, and how you feel about it.
Some people will put up with almost any amount of missing Rx, including astigmatism, rather than "glasses"
Some people will wear the smallest Rx rather than "have blurred vision."
As long as you're driving legal, the rest is up to you, without medical consequences.
The more "push" of astigmatism is that contacts are more expensive rings, so the temptation is to "let go astigmatism" to save money, especially when he is around 0.75.
Rotate the implant is very unlikely.
"The sudden appearance of -0.50 D of astig ..." means little or nothing, I''m afraid. It is too small an error to a very early stage.
I would not be surprised at Rx, which lasted three months to stabilize, but it is almost always finished editing half.
