Teratoma CystAbnormal Ovarian Cysts: Types, causes and treatments

Be careful to differentiate between two types of cysts which form. It is the functional cyst and ovarian cyst is the abnormal. As is evident from the nomenclature, the results of the latter variety of abnormal cell growth. Different types of abnormal ovarian cysts such as dermoid cyst, endometrioma cyst, cyst adenoma and "PCOS" all occur because of an imbalance of "female hormones" estrogen and progesterone either.

Most of these abnormal cysts are benign and not cancerous, but nobody has so far been able to identify the reason for these anomalies. In most cases, these cysts cause no problems, but remain in the body for a lifetime. However, in rare cases, they burst and therefore require immediate surgery. Let us now consider the different types of ovarian cysts in detail.

Dermoid cysts

These cysts are filled with different types of tissues, including skin and air. In medical terms, it is a teratoma "cystic" containing mature skin filled with sweat glands and hair follicles, tufts of hair at a time and very often, pockets of blood, sebum, cartilage, eyes , teeth, nails, bones, fat and thyroid. Because they are composed of adult tissues, dermoid cysts are almost always benign. However, in rare cases, they turn malignant, and "squamous cell" develops in adults. In infants and children, it generally leads to the development of "endodermal sinus tumor.

Periorbital dermoid cysts

Sometimes, dermoid cysts develop in small children, and they are usually near the lateral eyebrow and meaning in their rubbery. One must be careful because the disruption of a dermoid cyst results in "inflammatory". Doctors sometimes just watch over them and sometimes the duty, but there is a possibility of recurrence if the cyst is completely excised. The problem is that complete excision is not always possible because the cyst can be setup in a "dumbbell" which means there is an extension through the suture line of the skull.

Can not be equated with pilonidal cyst

Sometimes it becomes difficult to differentiate a tiny dermoid cyst that appeared somewhere on the top of the skull sutures is, under the tongue, palate, nose, sinuses or the tailbone of a pilonidal cyst. The reason is that these cysts are "full of hair." A pilonidal cyst is essentially a pilonidal sinus that has been obstruction. And a sinus may develop from any teratoma attached to the body surface. These developments could also take place in the form of clusters. A pilonidal cyst is also known as 'Sacrococcygeal Fistula' and may form as a skin infection, which is adjacent to the tailbone. These can be very painful.

Differential Diagnosis

It is important that a correct diagnosis is made of a cyst as a cyst Pilonidal is very similar to a dermoid cyst, the most important similarity is the presence of germ cell tumor. And the reason for making sure that if there is a teratoma, surgical excision is necessary and the surgery must be done without any kind of leak. It would be wise to consult an oncologist known.

Endometrioma cyst

The cyst is best known as a chocolate cyst of endometriosis and forms when tissues that are identical to the uterine lining joins ovaries.

Cyst adenoma

This forms the outer surface of the ovaries and ovarian cyst that develops from cells. The mucinous adenomas in particular, is the largest that can form on human ovarian cyst and a mucinous adenoma can weigh up to 328 lbs. or 149 kg. Typically, these cysts form on young people and there is no apparent reason to explain why they form. Although they usually turn malignant.
