What is the difference between osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis? Visit the links below.
I think it's like when bone on these ads when they have wives and they are all old and stuff and trading about osteoporosis (sp?). then maybe the kind osteo is when bones become weak and are deteriating
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease. Normally, cells called antibodies, produced by the body's immune system, attack foreign substances such as viruses and bacteria. With autoimmune diseases, the immune system mistakes the person's own tissue as foreign and attack.
With RA, antibodies attack the membranes around the joints (synovium) causing swelling, pain, stiffness and, in some cases, deformity. RA also causes inflammation of the sheath around the tendons (which attach muscles to bones). Finally, there may be erosion of smooth articular cartilage that covers the ends of bones in joints, or the bone itself.
Osteoarthritis is a type of arthritis that is caused by the breakdown and eventual loss of cartilage of one or more joints. Cartilage is a protein substance that serves as a "cushion" between the bones of joints. Osteoarthritis is also known as degenerative arthritis. Among the more than 100 different types of conditions arthritis, osteoarthritis is the most common, affecting over 20 million people in the United States. Osteoarthritis occurs more frequently with age. Before age 45, osteoarthritis is more common in men. After age 55, it occurs more frequently in females. United States, all races appear equally affected. A higher incidence of osteoarthritis exists in the Japanese population, while blacks in South Africa, the East Indies and China Southern have lower rates.
Osteoarthritis usually affects the hands, feet, spine and large weight-bearing joints such as hips and knees. Most cases of osteoarthritis have no known cause and are referred to primary osteoarthritis. When the cause of osteoarthritis is known, the condition is called secondary osteoarthritis
OSTEO is for bones and rheumatoid arthritis is the joints.

arthritis osteo arthritis is developed due to damage, etc., but age arthiriis arthritis is mainly due to autoimmune diseases
Clinically, they are almost the same, but rheumatoid arthritis is symmetrical and bone can be as monoarthritis
Rheumatiod arthritis affects the joints and can paralyze you. It can cause severe deformities in the body.
Osteo affects the bones, and do not usually cause the most severe conditions.
Rheumatoid arthritis is the body's immune system to attack the town. Osteoarthritis is a loss of bone that causes weakness and pain and occurs over time.
