With PMS, or premenstrual syndrome, affecting nearly 30% of all menstruating women, it is not surprising that the search for a way to relieve symptoms is a high priority for women. Instead of having to wait more than PMS, women can adopt a more proactive approach to managing this time of the month. And for those 5 to 10% of women were also more severe forms of PMS, the more things they can do to help offset their signs to help not only them but everyone in their lives.

What is PMS

PMS is a syndrome that occurs once a month for many women. It can vary from being barely noticeable to being something that is a bit more obvious in some cases. With over 150 symptoms associated with PMS, it can be difficult to make an official diagnosis. Some of the most common symptoms:

Water retention
Weight gain up to ten pounds in some women
Mood swings and bad temper, temper tantrums
abdominal pain and bloating
lack of food and appetite changes
Breast tenderness
Acne
Headache

These symptoms indicate a change in the levels of hormones in the body prior to menstruation. As the body begins to prepare to produce an egg during the cycle, body temperature may increase, and these symptoms may occur until the egg is released into the fallopian tubes for fertilization. When the egg is not fertilized, it is paid at the same time that the coating consists of the uterus to produce a period. When this happens, the hormones return to normal and the symptoms of PMS disappear in most women.

For many women, symptoms begin about one week before their period or even earlier and for a longer period of time. In severe cases, women may experience extreme changes in mood and ability to reason. These cases require medications in order to help women feel better during this time.

Treatments used to treat PMS

This may not be possible to treat PMS without completely eliminating the menstrual cycle. Since PMS occurs when hormone levels fluctuate, in order to prevent it, you must create a cycle in which hormone levels are more stable. During pregnancy, for example, this may occur.

To mimic the hormonal effects of pregnancy, some women start taking the contraceptive pill as a way to alleviate their symptoms of PMS. These pills are synthetic hormones that create the idea in your body that hormone levels are more stable and can reduce the harmful effects of the menstrual cycle, in addition to preventing pregnancy.

There are also prescription drugs that are used to assist in cases of severe premenstrual syndrome and certain prescription drugs that can help reduce symptoms of PMS moderate.

The value of fish oil in PMS

Some studies on the effectiveness of fish oil suggest that something other than hormones may play a role in the symptoms of PMS. Chemicals called eicosanoids appear to be produced in higher amounts during the onset of PMS, the discovery of what could lead to more effective treatments. However, in fish oils, it is a chemical compound called eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) which is derived from omega-3 fatty acids. This seems to help regulate levels of these chemicals in the body, thus reducing the effects of PMS.

In one study, women were given fish oil or placebo for two months, nothing their symptoms of PMS and the two groups switched pills to see what would happen. Women who took fish oil in both parts of the study reported less pain and fewer symptoms of PMS.

The anti-inflammatory effects of fish oil in the body can also contribute to PMS pain and cramps during the menstrual cycle real. By helping to reduce inflammation in the body, pain can be reduced dramatically. But instead of using oi fish.
