Ovarian Drilling Procedure

Does anyone have ovarian drilling surgery? I am scheduled to have one within a month from now and really need to know what experience you went through before and after surgery. Why was it prescribed to you and what surgery you HELP?

I had ovarian drilling done twice! I do not think it really helps, but again I do not want to get preggers either. I do remember it was very painful for a couple of days. The procedure is done laproscopically. In fact, they will inflate with gas (which is the painful part), then they go in and either use a drill or a lazer cutting utensil. I got the Lazer that this method leaves the least scarring poss.

The idea is to get rid of layers of hardening substance that is created by the ovaries during the testosterone production. Doc believed that, after removing a part of this "shell surface, it greatly reduces testosterone levels and allows a seamless environment that will regulate ovulation. He never worked for me, but I heard that he has helped many women.

I also read that doctors now believe that the "hardening" surrounding the ovary does not affect ovulation (which would have been useful info year ago). Technically, you do not need to drill the ovary to facilitate ovulation, fertility drugs are quite good. Why are they considering this procedure? What exactly are you suffering from?

I will not tell you what to do, but I consider a second opinion before making this procedure. The risk of complication of fertility are much more important than the latter. My sister does that do. It was supposed to make him very fertile for a short period after. However, it did not get pregnant for about two years later. I do remember she said she had pain after she had two children in the last four years. I divorced her brother, then I'm sorry, I don t have email. Hope this helps.
