I'm considering laser eye surgery LASIK, if you have had the opinion please? I wore contacts for 10 years, and only in the last 3 months have had two corneal ulcers (painful) and I'm on it. I wear my glasses, but not a great lover of them ... Can someone give me some advice / opinions on their experience of laser eye surgery? If so, where in Brisbane is the best place to do it? Thank you
Hi all,
Corneal ulcers may prevent you from having treatment in the first place according to the severity and damage were caused. It would be interesting to know what you vision before getting ulcers has been and what they are now. Second, you need a scan corneal topography (Topolyser / Pentacam) taken to see what / if any damage was caused to the structure of the cornea (scars, etc..)
I suggest you take a look at laser eye http://www.lasik.com.au. In my experience, the technology they use (Wavelight Allegretto) is far superior to other platforms on market.
Better to have a consultation to find out what options are available to you. The only way that your ability to treatment can be assessed through consultation.
Hope this helps
Search YouTube for videos on this subject. this is not an upset stomach if. I see it, but I'm freaked out, because the procedure .. my eyes are pretty bad too. Anyway, I do not know that they are actually a slice and peel back part of the eye until I saw the procedure. I learned a lot about the procedure. certainly not pick a doctor so cheap .. find someone well known. you seem on track, asking people if. :-) Good luck!
Best money I ever spent. It was just a bit uncomfortable, but not even as bad as going to the dentist. And, wow, what a difference! Do not know where to get done in your area tho.
Recurrent ulcer of the cornea using contact lenses is actually a good reason to consider refractive surgery (LASIK, PRK, etc.). As you have been wearing contact lenses for a while you need a vacation "contact lens" (a period of weeks or months without the use of contact lenses) before making your final steps pre-corneal surgery. In addition, if you have significant corneal scarring that may require the use of wavefront technology more costly to correct corneal scars can cause "irregular astigmatism.
Probably the most important decision that anyone who is considering laser refractive surgery has to do is choose that surgeon. Although I do not perform laser refractive surgery, I created a document for my cataract patients to assist them in choosing a surgeon. The article can be accessed by clicking on this link:

The advice in this document may be applied to choose a surgeon in all specialties, not only cataract surgeons.
