Does menopause leaving you hot and bothered? Do you feel the heat of menopause? Yes it is the dreaded moment - menopause, change of life, call it what you want. All I know is that it leaves me feeling very hot and bothered. Whatever the weather, rain, hail or snow, my face and neck are burning like hot coals on a barbecue. It can be freezing cold outside, and everyone else is shivering, but I turn on air conditioning.
And whoever said that ladies do not sweat? Apparently the sweat of horses while the men perspire and ladies glow. Well, I'm tired of shining. Morning, noon and evening in particular.
This menopause thing is exhausting. Bedtime antics used to have a different meaning in the early days. Tearing off apparel nothing to do with more passion. It's all about trying to beat the dratted night sweats. On the duvet off the quilt. Up and down all night, splashing cold water on the skin moist. When will it end?
And the hot flashes are just part of it. The drying of the skin, thinning hair, thickening of size are to name but a few miserable symptoms of this unhappy time of life.
So what can we do? I know we can take HRT. After all, it prevents osteoporosis, protects against heart disease and stroke, and generally keeps us young. But again, it gives us an increased risk of breast cancer, ovarian cancer and premature death probably. Mmm!
So how long this menopausal hot flashes and such dreadful continue? Maybe a year, maybe ten. Soy can help but then again maybe not.
Am I the only one who thinks that if men were going through menopause, we would have a little more precise answers to date? Well, I guess it's just the cynic in me. For now, I'll have to continue to wear my lightest clothes and carry my portable fan. Got to go now. Do you feel a hot flash coming.
