How acurate are sperm test kits at home? So I went to see my doctor today and she believes that there is nothing wrong with me and thought it might be the husband. The custom of the Army no sperm count and I do not want him to donate. So I was wondering if anyone of you knows anything semen test kits and if you can give me advice.
You do not have to use your insurance to do a semen analysis. The home tests are usually a waste of money. Not that they are not exact, but they do not give enough information. For example, you could have sperm dead and died in transit. You could have a lot of sperm, but it is damaged sperm.
Try contacting a local office urologists or fertility clinic and ask them if they can refer you to a laboratory performing the semen analysis. They are not mistaken in my local hospital now.
I'm pretty stupid when it comes to the army and the way all health care works, but the most fertile areas are not covered by insurance anyway. My husband's sperm was only $ 75 for us - cash, from the outset. My HSG $ 600 is what will set us back a bit ... I really want to ask your Ob / Gyn about a referral to a fertility clinic which would be a semen analysis, because there could be a problem with his sperm. Oh, and virtually all tests of semen must be made within one hour after collection, as more and more likely to die the longer it sits. For this reason, I would certainly stay away kits home sperm - they are probably not reliable at all.
