Due date calculators are generally considered accurate within 7 days. In general, most practitioners do not adjust the dates in either direction if the difference between the two possible dates is less than seven days. And this is true even in the early ultrasound.

There are generally two ways to measure a pregnancy, LMP (last menstrual period) and gestational diabetes. Most due date calculators go PML, which calculates a pregnancy at 40 weeks or 10 lunar (4 weeks) months. LMP would mean that ovulation has occurred in your second week of pregnancy (day 14). Gestational starts from the date of ovulation to achieve pregnancy week 38. So if you know the date of ovulation, you can calculate where you are either LMP or gestational diabetes.

Ultrasound technology can give you a strange day because they can not use one of these, they sometimes take the rate of development and change the date depending on where their scale, baby is. The doctor may even move the due date on this, even if you know absolutely when the baby was conceived!

Babies have so much variability in size as possible during pregnancy and most will be a certain size at a certain point in pregnancy.
