Dhea MenopauseDHEA: Supplement Menopause Hormone

Menopause can be a debilitating period in the life of a woman. With symptoms ranging from depression, hot flashes, and lack of libido or sex drive, it seems that the gods have made women suffer as a result of not being able to bear more children. But menopause should not be a nightmare and there are many treatments for women that help alleviate these symptoms and others.

When women suffer from hormonal changes during menopause and others, they often feel alone and depressed. But over the last thirty years, many studies have been undertaken that found hormones such as DHEA to be effective in treating these and other symptoms. DHEA or dehydroepiandrosterone, a hormone secreted naturally in the body that is produced by a gland in the brain and contributes to our overall health, builds muscles and keeps us feeling young.

Discovered in the 1930s by German scientists, DHEA is a steroid that is also considered a performance-enhancer by major sports organizations like Major League Baseball, the NFL and the Olympics. But DHEA is perfectly legal in North America and Europe where women have reported excellent results when taking DHEA as hormone treatment or hormone supplement to fight against the negative effects of menopause.

Many women report an increase in their libido, reduced depression, and better overall sense of well-being. Since DHEA is produced naturally by the body decreases as we age, it is a logical approach to take DHEA supplements to compensate for this lack due to aging. Although extensive research on side effects of DHEA supplementation is still ongoing, initial results look very positive and many health care professionals and alternative practitioners to promote DHEA as a treatment for menopause. As with all hormone supplements, however, it is best to consult your doctor before taking DHEA.
