Constipation After Hysterectomy

Posted on March 17, 2010.
Constipation After HysterectomyWhat is the best way to relieve constipation after hysterectomy?

The wife just had a hysterectomy and is constipated from pain killers. She needs help that will not cause cramps. Enema perhaps?

Hello ict39

narcotic analgesics are known to cause constipation, probably in part because they reduce the motility of the intestine.

A fresh approach would be to try vitamin C (which softens) and magnesium citrate (which promotes peristalsis). Often, these nutrients, which naturally work together, are insufficient, then they could be useful in other ways including recovery from surgery itself.

Here are some links that I hope will help much to take.

Good luck!
