Cervical Disc Disease

Posted on March 25, 2010.
Cervical Disc DiseaseI live in Ohio and have no health insurance through my employer, I need surgery for cervical disc disease.

I make too much money to qualify for Medicaid, and my employer does not offer health insurance. I think I need surgery for cervical degenerative disc disease. Can anyone give me any ideas on how to have the necessary MRI and surgery at a minimal cost? Any serious answers would be greatly appreciated. I am in great pain. Thank you.

My best advice is to look in your local yellow pages, and make calls for estimated costs of facilities in your area. Prices vary depending on the state you are in. ... In fact, prices can vary slightly between institutions in the same area. I work in an imaging center on foot, and we charge about half what the hospital (located in the same city!) Expenses. Search for doctors in the yellow pages under "x-ray" or "- radiologist" and start calling facilities. If you call the imaging department of a hospital, make sure you get both the technical fee (for the cost of the procedure) and business tax (for the radiologist's reading). Most free standing imaging centers combine those costs into one package. Other things to think about ..... whether the facility offers a cash discount for uninsured patients. Where I work, we offer 40% off the cost of CTs and MRIs for uninsured patients, if they pay the total to date of service. In addition, whether they can make a payment plan for you, if you can not come with any money at your home. We ask 25% at time of service, then we do a payment plan, mapping monthly payments of the balance. Sometimes the monthly payment is fairly low .....$ 50 even. A little research can save you money!

Your best bet is to buy your own insurance. Since you have not been tested yet, you do not officially a pre-existing condition. However, make sure you try everything else before committing to surgery. Use it as a last resort.

And the next time vote Democrat if people like you can get access to decent health care.

check with your local welfare office to see if they can help, check with the hospital care about charity.

It is a big problem in the current election
If you live near the border by year
UPMC Pittsburgh has a good pay as you go program, they are at the University of Pittsburgh
program may be the state of Ohio or Youngstown was similar
Here we pa chip adult
but in Virginia, they have a system of emergency care to pay for a medical procedure time
This is difficult, but someone from your local hospital social services should be able to help
if you can get a recommendation of doctors you may be able to go with a temporary Social Security or Medicaid program
