Breast Radiation

Posted on March 3, 2010.
Breast RadiationAny surprises for breast cancer radiation I can send?

I have a friend to radiotherapy for breast cancer soon. Is there anything that you might think that I can really appreciate it send instead of flowers. All the survivors you please give me some ideas please. J

No, flowers or anything that smells, it is not really a good idea that smells can make them too nauseous on top of the nausea of chemotherapy. If they have finished the chemo and not feel nausea, then a basket DIY home spa treatments with products such as beauty masks, moisturizers, bath oils, salts, bubble bath etc., may be a set of pedicure , things like that would be great, so they can have fun. Better yet, if you live nearby, also add certificates personalized gift that gives the holder (in this case, your friend) to a day of relaxation and you can go around and use the basket of goodies to his pleasure with a face and a pedicure, etc. etc. etc.

If it is still nausea, then a Nice stationery set with a pen and some stamped envelopes is a nice touch for some. A new silk gown or pajamas, whatever your opinion, is pretty weird. These two things will be useful if it is admitted to hospital for treatment.
If she returns home after each session, so maybe some good tailor for you to go clean his house and cooking for her. Or you can always hire a cleaner for her if she feels too sick to do itself.
I hope these ideas help, please send me an email anytime to discuss further if you want, but I am in Australia so there may be a time difference.
Good day / night!

Wow, it's really nice of you!
I am not a survivor of breast cancer, but my mother is, and when she had radiation treatment to another lady who was a survivor gave her a small teddy bear to remind my wee MA she was not alone. She took it with him all his radiation treatments, and even if my mom is definitely not the sentimental type, the little bear sitting on his chest now, seven years later.
It is very small, perhaps two or three inches high, btw.
Maybe something like this could bring to your friend with her as she goes to the radiation would be useful.

A lotion would be really nice.

No flowers at all !!!!!

If it is in the habit Univ Oncology Ward to accept. If she is at home, odors and bacteria or chemicals on them could make her sick.
