bone density test results is bad!? We have a family history of osteoporosis and last year I was diagnosed with a deficiency of vitamin D and very bad this year because of bone density. I took a treatment for vitamin D and immediately after one year bone density test. It seems that the treatment does not work? Is it something serious? I should mention that I avoided the sun in recent years fearing rashes and tanning. Please guide me! Thank you
Vit D is not a treatment for osteoporosis. You need vitamin D to absorb calcium so it is good that you take some. Specific treatments for osteoporosis include SERM (Evista), bisphosphonates (several different) and strontium. Talk to your doctor who may be appropriate for you
Bone density does not recover quickly - it takes several months to see a difference, and several years to rebuild completely. Besides vitamin D, a person also needs adequate amounts of calcium and magnesium, and exercise is also important. If all these things together can not produce results, there are prescription drugs such as Fosamax and Actonel can help increase bone density.
There is a real supplement out there called Chaga. It has been used since before the birth of Christ in the Eastern Hemisphere. It works at the cellular level and DNA repair. It can help with this food because it has helped many others with the same question. For more information email me at glenmatheny07@yahoo.com
