Avent PumpBack at Work - What pump to Buy

First of all congratulations for wanting to continue to breastfeed your baby while you're back at work.

Expressing milk is a little extra work, for sure, but once you get into the routine, it will just be normal.

The only thing to express is that you must continue to do so as if you were breastfeeding. Thus, on days and weekends before starting work, you should breastfeed your daughter and note the time you do. (You can probably tell anyway!).

Then, when you're at work, you'll need to try and express these same hours, which will keep your milk up.

It's a good idea to continue feeding in the morning and night, and then you continue to receive special hugs.

As a recommendation, I highly recommend the most Medela Swing Breast Pump or Uno Avent . Both pumps are comparable (though Advent has a few extras like the storage bag, etc.), but the key for me back in service and availability of spare parts.

Medela have a full technical team in Auckland, if something is wrong with your pump, it would be covered by the warranty. Avent pumps are under warranty too, but they have no service. And spare parts (like the tube, or valves, etc.) are quick to obtain. Not that it happens very often, but just something to think about.

Swing is also a bit quieter than the UN, which is something to be aware of if you're pumping at work. You'll find a place with a closed door.

You can store your breast milk in a normal backpack, or one of these bags are cool guys that their beer is really good. With some ice packs to keep your milk if you do not put in the fridge at work.

I also recommend that, in the preparation, you start your baby off the bottle with a nipple Chu Chu . It works like a pacifier, baby must grow down and suck to get the milk.

I know that many babies are really picky and used to drink a dummy when you're a beginner, and that adds to all the stress. Then try the Chu Chu first - I love her and I had the worlds fussiest baby, but once I got these ones he took. "

They form narrow necked bottles, and are compatible with Medela.

You'll also need a few bottles for storing milk, when you express it.

Medela are the size 150ml or 250ml, but 250ml is actually more for his money. As you can always use it when your baby is older and larger volumes drinking. The 150ml lasts for only a Limted because of the smaller size.

You'll also need a brush to clean bottles.

And a sterilizer for parts, bottles and teats. You can boil in a pan, or use of these sterilizing tablets too (but I tend to think the tablets leave a heavy chemical taste).

Breastmates are happy to help you then please let us know if you have further questions.
